For several years now, this little tucked away neighborhood of Tribeca has hosted a lovely culinary street fair known as Taste of Tribeca. At this time, our two schools come together to raise both funds and spirits.
Taste brings the neighborhood outside to revel in the bounty of our local restaurants and to mingle with each other in support of our two very special local schools. At P.S. 234, the money raised by this event provides music instruction for all of the children. Last year year P.S. 234 has had five different music teachers teaching vocal music, the recorder, brass, strings, woodwinds and now percussion.
Through the PTA we can purchase and maintain the musical instruments that make our music program such and integral part of the educational experience at P.S. 234. At P.S. 150, Taste of Tribeca supports a wide range of enriching activities: modern and ballroom dance instruction, storytelling, museum collaborations, visits from celebrated authors, and arts support for classroom teachers. This year’s funds will also go toward technology enrichment and supporting teachers in providing enriching classroom experiences to all our diverse learners.
We are both extremely thankful to the many P.S. 234 and P.S. 150 parents and volunteers that make Taste of Tribeca a most wonderful annual event.
